“My Pockets are Full of Attitude, Not Money,” Says Vyshak Perumana
In the ongoing drama involving Odia actor Manoj Mishra and the industry ban, Vyshak Perumana, a prominent film distributor, is actively working towards a resolution. The dispute heightened when ‘Pratha’ producer Sanlisha Patel filed a complaint against Mishra, alleging disruptions during a Jharsuguda movie screening.
At just 27, with a portfolio of over 100 films, Vyshak Perumana is gaining praise for promoting a practical and collaborative approach to challenges in the Odia film industry. Rather than pointing fingers, he emphasizes the dire need for a fair and systematic method to resolve conflicts, mockingly stating, “Apparently, everyone thinks they’re a judge now.”
Responding to suggestions that his neutrality may be financially motivated, Perumana dismisses such statements, saying, “My pockets are too full of my attitude; there’s no room for money. If they have something to say, they should say it directly, not through whispers.”
Rather than focusing on financial accusations, Perumana stresses the importance of addressing the root causes of conflicts in the industry. He asserts, “No film should be undermined, and no one’s career should be jeopardized,” calling for a collective effort to prevent such incidents in the future.
Vyshak Perumana is also a member of the special committee formed to find a solution to the ongoing issues within the Odia film industry. The committee aims to prevent the repetition of similar disputes and foster a more collaborative and supportive environment for all stakeholders.
The industry looks to the special committee, including Perumana, for guidance in navigating these challenging times without succumbing to unnecessary divisions.
In a notable aside, theater owner Manas Paridha advises Vyshak to keep aside his anger and attitude while dealing with sensitive matters, highlighting the importance of a measured and composed approach in resolving industry conflicts.
